David Brian Bedford, a driver for Republic Services in Boise, Idaho, received a Driver of the Year Award from the National 91ֿ & Recycling Association (NWRA) at a special awards ceremony today in Las Vegas. “David’s safety record, commitment to his company, and his dedication to customer service are a source of pride for the entire waste and recycling industry,” said Sharon H. Kneiss, president and CEO of NWRA, the trade association that represents the private sector waste and recycling services industry.

Bedford, who has worked for Republic Services for 30 years, has an outstanding safety record on the road. Each week he drives an average of 1,035 miles on his route, with an average 41 pickups. Bedford takes pride in customer service, working to make sure he has great working relationships with the clients he serves. When he was asked about what makes him proudest of his job, he said it was helping older customers.  David is also a driver trainer and supervisor, and he is proud that many of those he has trained are still with Republic Services today.
