The Miami-Dade Department of Solid 91²Ö¿â Management (DSWM) recognizes the dedication, hard work, and professionalism of its truck drivers and recycling contractorsâ drivers, especially during this yearâs National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 15 through September 21, 2024. DSWM management commends the 610 drivers who provide efficient, reliable waste and recycling services to more than 350,000 households in Miami-Dade County.
âOur truck drivers work hard all year long, and they deserve to be honored during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week and every week,â said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. âThanks to their contributions, these amazing men and women help protect our quality of life and keep our neighborhoods clean, healthy and safe. I ask everyone to join me in showing their appreciation this week and thanking their waste collection and recycling driver, along with all the other drivers who keep our solid waste operations rolling!â
According to the National Truck Driver Appreciation Week website, this week-long celebration âis an important time for America to thank all the professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in undertaking one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs.â The DSWM will honor its truck drivers throughout the week with special posts on its social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
âI am very proud of the efforts of all our truck drivers, as well as those of our contractorsâ truck drivers, as they serve the waste and recycling needs of our community,â said Aneisha Daniel, PhD, DSWM Director. âThey deserve recognition for the outstanding work they do, not just during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week but all year long.â
The DSWM provides curbside waste and recycling collection services to more than 350,000 households in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and ten municipalities, including Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Opa-Locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach and Sweetwater.
