The City of Lexington’s residential waste audit is underway. The pilot program aims to educate people about what can and cannot be thrown in the recycling and yard waste carts. It’s part of the city’s contamination reduction plan. They will also be educating people along the way.
“We want to make sure that we’re first and foremost, making sure that the individuals are getting the service, but then also are they doing it correctly,” said Antonio Baldon, Director of Lexington’s Division of 91ֿ Management.
“Our purpose is to get those unwanted materials out of there,” said Baldon. It’s a boots-on-the-ground effort by the city’s Division of 91ֿ Management. “Approaching the public openly of ‘hey, this is the material that we do not want in there and this is the material we would like for you to place in there,’” said Baldon.
