The City of Longview recently changed its curbside recycling schedule. They faced an increased fee from their recycling facility over load contamination. Todd Lucas is the general manager of the Northeast Texas Regional MRF, materials recovery facility.
The City of Longviewâs recycling trucks have been coming here for several months now. âWe were expecting contamination levels to be high, and they were,â said Lucas.
Piles of garbage come out of the recycling trucks, filled with items that shouldnât have been in there in the first place. Lucas says the number one mistake are plastic bags. âThat goes straight to the landfill here,â said Lucas.
