The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid 91ֿ Management (DSWM) has won a 2016 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo).  This marks the sixth year in a row that Miami-Dade’s solid waste operations have been recognized by NACo.  This year’s award-winning program was the Recycle This, Not That Educational Campaign.  “The NACo Achievement Awards we have received this year and previous years are a great testimony to the creativity, innovation and hard work of our department’s employees,” said Alina T. Hudak, Deputy Mayor and Department Director for DSWM.

The Recycle This, Not That Educational Campaign was created with the County’s Communications Department to help reduce the amount of unacceptable items in the County’s recycling program, by educating residents on what can and cannot be recycled.  Two of the videos in the campaign can be viewed online: Recycle This, Not That! – Paper vs. Plastic Bags and Recycle This, Not That! – Milk Carton vs. Foam Container.

The DSWM provides curbside recycling services to residents in the unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County and the following 19 municipalities: Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, El Portal, Florida City, Medley, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Miami Springs, North Bay Village, Opa-locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, South Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, Virginia Gardens and West Miami.
