The City of Chattanooga, TN is looking to expand its glass recycling and composting program. The program began its trial phase on October 1st, 2025, initially focused on serving the Belvoir and Brainerd Neighborhood areas. Due to positive community feedback, they have expanded the trial program to three additional neighborhoods. Those include Missionary Ridge, Ridgedale, and Highland Park.

“We have had really great interaction with the public and have heard from feedback that there wanted to be expansion for this time, and so we selected sort of this contiguous area, trying to keep it grouped together,” said Madison Rollings, Director of Sustainability for the City of Chattanooga.

The City is looking to make this service available to everyone in the city. In order to do this, they must see a want for this program from residents. “We can’t release this program citywide unless we show a good business case that residents actually want this and that City Council could fund this for the future. So, to make sure that these services happen citywide, we have to see a good participation rate,” Rollings.
