The League of Women Voters Chaffee County will host a panel discussion about recycling, renewing and repurposing initiatives in Chaffee County on January 13. The panel of local experts will talk about “how we can create a more sustainable future for our community through innovative methods of creating a new life for waste materials,” a press release stated.
Panel members are John Armstrong, founder of B1 Energy and Recycling; Julie Mach, founder and owner of Elements Mountain Compost; Grant Hamel of VeroTouch; and Beth Helmke, Chaffee County deputy director of administration.
Armstrong’s B1 Energy and Recycling operates a mobile recycling facility, which “can now show up in a community, start recycling immediately and educate people on the importance of recycling,” he said in the release. Mach started her business in Salida in 2014 and is now a certified composter operations manager with the U.S. Composting Council and a board member for Recycle Colorado.
