Glass recycling has resumed at the Leavenworth Recycling Center after pausing amid management changes. Management of the Leavenworth Recycling Center recently transitioned to the nonprofit organization Sustainable NCW after the City of Leavenworth’s contract with 91²Ö¿â Loop ended in September.
The change resulted from 91²Ö¿â Loop’s organizational changes. The nonprofit recently merged its waste reduction education programs into Sustainable NCW and transitioned into Eastside Rebuild, which continues as a separate nonprofit.
Sustainable NCW is now carrying 91²Ö¿â Loop’s glass recycling forward. The organization says it is able to haul the glass to Seattle, thanks to Sibelco’s recent purchase of the glass recycling facility, Strategic Materials.
