This America Recycles Day, November 15, SWACO is making it easier than ever for Franklin County residents to recycle some of their hardest-to-dispose-of items. From November 7 through November 21, all fees for recycling at SWACO’s Recycling Convenience Center (RCC) will be waived, including those charged for televisions and tires.

SWACO’s Recycling Convenience Center already provides Franklin County residents with a convenient and free way to recycle a wide variety of household items, including food scraps, Styrofoam, appliances, batteries, paint and motor oil. RCC is one of four residential recycling drop-off centers in central Ohio and the only one in the region to accept traditional tube-style (CRT) and flat-screen (LCD) televisions, as well as tires. TVs and tires require specialized handling and processing, and for which SWACO typically charges a fee. During the two-week promotion, SWACO is waiving the fees collected for TVs and tires.

“Recycling should be as easy and accessible as possible,â€ said Joe Lombardi, SWACO’s Executive Director. “By temporarily removing the fees associated with recycling tires and televisions, we hope to encourage more residents to take advantage of this resource, clean out some hard-to-recycle items and discover everything the Recycling Convenience Center has to offer. It’s our hope this promotion will help to create new and returning customers.”

SWACO’s RCC, which opened on America Recycles Day in 2023, welcomed more than 3,000 visitors last year and SWACO continues to work to increase the number of convenience centers across the county, as well as increase the number of users and materials brought to the centers.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity and explore the many other materials accepted at the Recycling Convenience Center on Jackson Pike.
