SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association announced today its new name, Plastics Industry Association, PLASTICS for short, and unveiled a new website, demonstrating that as the plastics industry grows and evolves, so does the association. PLASTICS, the associationâs new identity, builds upon nearly 80 years of a strong history of fostering collaboration among the entire plastics supply chain.
âTo continue to drive the industry forward for decades to come, our national board made a decision to evolve our purpose-driven organization,â said William R. Carteaux, PLASTICSâ president and CEO. âWeâre not a society; weâre an association that helps to shape the future of the industry. Our new identity as the Plastics Industry Association reflects the way forward.â
PLASTICS unveiled a new logo, which represents the six facets of the plastics industry supply chain, including brand owners, equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, moldmakers, processors and recyclers. Moving forward, the plastics industry is looking to grow and support sustainability and find ways to make recycling easier, hence the association also added its new, and first-ever tagline: âBetter Industry. Better World.â
âOur member-driven organization will continue to help the industry grow while promoting new technology through our trade shows and conferences,â said Jim Murphy, chair of PLASTICSâ Board of Directors and president and CEO of Davis Standard, LLC. âAt the same time, weâre going to work to evolve the way people think about plastics.â
This historic moment for PLASTICS is informed by sound research and member support; PLASTICSâ new name helps clearly define itself â itâs straightforward and itâs simple â and helps to elevate the brand in the broader business world.
