SCS Engineers has been retained by Stop91²Ö¿â, a public agency formed by the Alameda County 91²Ö¿â Management Authority and the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board, to prepare a waste characterization study and measure the agencyâs progress in achieving its waste-reduction goals.
The objectives of the 91²Ö¿â Characterization Study are to:
- Quantify the flow of waste to landfills
- Provide data and analyses to measure the impacts of current programs, and compare the results with previous state and local studies
- Provide data and analyses to allow the Alameda County 91²Ö¿â Management Authority to apply the results at the local level
- Identify waste streams to be targeted for future waste reduction programs
- Be consistent with California statutory and regulatory requirements for performing waste characterization studies
To complete the study, SCS Engineers will gather waste flow information from single family, multifamily, commercial, roll off and self-haul streams across the county and compare the results to previous studies. SCS staff will also estimate the waste composition of commercial, roll off and self-haul streams.
