Southern Idaho Solid 91²Ö¿â is moving forward with a multi-million-dollar plan to upgrade its aging facilities. For more than three decades, Southern Idaho Solid 91²Ö¿â has been managing the regionâs trash. However, CEO Nate Francisco said the infrastructure canât keep up with todayâs demands.
âWe started this district in the early 90s. The infrastructure that was put in at the time was made for a certain amount of waste. Weâve done very little improvements to those systems since the early 90s,â Francisco said. The company said the complex initially handled 85,000 tons annually. Now, the complex handles up to 320,000 tons.
Phase one of its upgrade plan covers seven southern Idaho counties. âWe have about $36 million available to do infrastructure improvements at about 10 facilities across the district,â Francisco said. At Milner Butte Landfill, the plans include a new entrance to handle increased traffic, updated scales and safety improvements. The district also plans to build an employee facility.
