Curbside recycling service in the Quincy area has been lopsided for decades. Downtown Quincy residents had it; East Quincy did not. Now both communities will have curbside recycling starting Jan. 1, 2026, the Plumas County Board of Supervisors decided Dec. 16.

It took the supervisors less than five minutes to approve the new contract terms, which will apply to the entire American Valley Community Services District. The county will contract with Feather River Disposal, a division of 91²Ö¿â Management providing solid waste disposal services elsewhere in Plumas County. Residents in the eastern portion of the district will have curbside recycling for the first time. Downtown Quincy residents will pay 39% more than they paid under the AVCSD contract.

AVCSD, which has been providing garbage and curbside recycling services for downtown Quincy, decided in September to cancel its contract with 91²Ö¿â Management, which ends Dec. 31. That threw responsibility for curbside pickup and recycling to the county.
