State Representative Greg Vital was the recipient of Keep Tennessee Beautiful’s 2026 Leader Against Litter Award. KTnB Executive Director Missy Marshall made the presentation during the 2026 official kick-off of Keep Tennessee Beautiful Month and the Greatest American Cleanup held at Beale Street Landing in Memphis. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ronné Adkins, Tennessee Department of Conservation, brought the keynote address.

“It is a great honor to receive this award from Keep Tennessee Beautiful,” Representative Vital said. “My heart and passion are in helping preserve the natural beauty of our state, supporting conservation initiatives and encouraging my fellow Tennesseans to be environmentally responsible. Working together, we can all help keep Tennessee beautiful and protect the majesty of our state for generations to come.”

As the elected representative for District 29 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, Rep. Vital has prioritized policies that protect natural resources and strengthen conservation efforts statewide. As a member of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, he has supported legislation that protects important waterways and strengthens the state’s environmental stewardship initiatives. His work to increase protections for portions of the Duck River and his advocacy for state parks and outdoor resources highlight his commitment to preserving Tennessee’s environmental heritage.

A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Rep. Vital brings a deep personal commitment to environmental responsibility. Before entering public office, he spent decades supporting conservation initiatives and land preservation efforts across Tennessee. His passion for protecting natural spaces has guided his leadership both in the legislature and in the community. Greg Vital has served as chairman of The Land Trust for Tennessee and previously chaired the National Parks Conservation Association, demonstrating long-standing dedication to preserving the state’s natural resources and public lands.

“Rep. Vital’s personal stewardship of land and the environment is an inspiration to all who know him,” Marshall said. “Through partnerships with conservation organizations, community groups, and educational institutions, Rep. Vital’s efforts align closely with the mission of Keep Tennessee Beautiful to reduce litter, protect natural resources, and inspire communities to take pride in the places they live. We are grateful for his strong leadership.”
