Tennessee lawmakers are looking to address how quickly landfills are filling up across the state. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation recently pointed out how close many landfills are to reaching capacity. A new state appointed taskforce aims to dive deeper into how Tennesseans can keep certain items out of the landfills.

Roshonda Woods, Director of the Solid 91²Ö¿â Division for Chattanooga Public Works, says, “A lot of people only see, you know, their trash being taken out to the curb. But there’s a lot that that goes on behind the scenes. Now, Tennessee’s newly formed Solid 91²Ö¿â Task Force looks to help combat this overflow of waste across the state. The taskforce is looking for new ways to make waste disposal cheaper and more efficient.
