Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announces the opening of the new Residential Self-Service Non-Perishable Solid 91²Ö¿â Collection Facility located at 7900 Starwood Court, Baton Rouge, LA 70820. As part of Mayor-President Broomeâs Brighten Up Baton Rouge campaign, this facility represents a significant investment in both the convenience of our citizens and the ongoing fight against litter and blight in Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish. The facility was approved by the Metropolitan Council and is located Council District 3 in the Gardere area.
Originally envisioned as a smaller facility, Mayor-President Broomeâs administration recognized the need for a more expansive solution to better serve our community’s needs. The new collection site offers a more central and easily accessible location for residents to dispose of non-perishable solid waste, reducing illegal dumping and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment. Residents are also still able to dispose of trash at the North Landfill.
âWe are committed to providing services that enhance the quality of life for our residents while addressing critical issues like litter and blight,â said Mayor Broome. âSimilar to the recent announcement of the Corridor Cleaning Program, which will weekly clean 54 intersections for the next year, this new facility is a testament to our ongoing efforts to create a cleaner and safer Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish.â
“As the Councilmember representing this area, I’m proud to support initiatives that make it easier for our residents to keep their neighborhoods clean and beautiful,â said District 3 Councilmember Rowdy Gaudet. âThis collection facility is a crucial step towards reducing illegal dumping and promoting a healthier environment for the Gardere area and for all of East Baton Rouge Parish. It reflects our ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for our citizens and maintaining the beauty of our community.”
