Plans are in motion to build a new recycling center in Calhoun County, replacing the current center located on 15 Mile Road in Marshall. The new recycling center will be located near the interchange of I-94 and I-69. The county hopes to open the center within the next two years.

Currently, the county’s recycling center shares space with the Road Department. Calhoun County Assistant Director of Community Development Lucy Hough says the new location will give the Department of Recycling and Solid 91²Ö¿â more autonomy.

“We call our recycling center the Marshall Recycling Center, and we’re open two days a week right now in that location,” said Hough. “What’s tricky about it is that we are literally on Road Department property. So, our operation really is in the way of how the Road Department operates.”
