Plans to open a recycling center in Montgomery County are taking shape after officials authorized the advertisement of a request for proposal. The request for proposal approved sought âdesign consulting services for a dedicated recycling drop-off center to improve accessibility and expand recycling opportunities to include curbside materials, electronic waste materials and other recyclable items.â
âSuch a facility would streamline the recycling process, enhance convenience, and reduce waste,â the request for proposal states. The proposed facility is slated to accept cardboard, computers, glass, metal packaging, plastic, scrap metal, televisions, textiles, as well as possible âorganic yard and food waste.â The site would also permit âhigh volume recyclingâ efforts, according to the request for proposal.
âItâs something that our residents across Montgomery County have asked for and wanted for a very long time,â said Montgomery County Commissionersâ Chairwoman Jamila Winder.
