Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment announced on Feb. 11 the awarding of over $7 million in grants to support 126 waste and litter reduction projects across the state.

The City of Wayne was the recipient of three of these grants. They include:

  • $6,730 for public education from the Litter Reduction & Recycling Incentive Fund. The City of Wayne Green Team advances Zero 91²Ö¿â education through targeted marketing, Earth Day events, and outreach to schools, organizations, and neighboring communities.
  • $7,866 for Disposal Fees from the 91²Ö¿â Reduction & Recycling Incentive Fund. The City of Wayne Green Team will hold its annual electronic recycling event for the community in the fall of 2026.
  • $6,577 for Disposal Fees from the 91²Ö¿â Reduction & Recycling Incentive Fund. The City of Wayne Green Team offers a convenient household battery recycling program for its community at no charge.
