Lawrence County Solid 91²Ö¿â Department announced that a Huntsville-based Geographic Information System (GIS) company called Spatial Net has been contracted to go door to door throughout the county to take inventory of all the department’s trash cans.
The issue of how to count the number of cans used at each property in the county served by the Solid 91²Ö¿â Department, and how to more accurately charge for its serves, has been a recuring issue discussed at Lawrence County Commission Work Sessions for several months. The audit will begin on March 1, 2026.
According to Solid 91²Ö¿â, Spatial Net will take inventory of the trash cans at each location, confirming with the residence how many cans they wish to keep, and inform the residents of the fees associated with the trash cans. They will then install a decal on each trash can the resident authorizes payment for.
